Craft Studio Delights

The art and skill of handmade items seems to be making a comeback in our country. I am not sure what to attribute that to however it is a wonderful thing to behold.

I come from a long line of homemakers. Women eager to make the world around them richer and more beautiful.

We all have inside of us the ability to make something. The problem comes in when we start looking around at everyone else and their talent and wish it were our own. I challenge you to seek deep inside of you and see what you find waiting there. Perhaps you will have to take come classes. You might even have a lot of failures until you get the victory.

I believe the only true failure is in never trying. I have attempted many things over the years, some of which still sit unfinished for lack of knowledge on how to do just that. I have a dream book full of ideas and things that I would love to delve into and conquer.

The world around us is filled with great beauty and I believe that inside each and every one of lies a well of amazing talent just waiting to show up in the craft studio.

I am going to learn how to glaze the pots I threw and do more with making pottery. I felt as if the clay itself was crying out to me to be set free. Strange perhaps but I felt a wondrous peace there and I certainly think it warrants at least one more visit.

I just got down some jars of buttons. There are hundreds of them from my Mother, Grandmother and Grandma. I sometimes like to just run my hands through them and wonder what kind of stories they could tell me about the garment they once adorned.

I love the smell of fresh fabric and the feel of a wooden spool of thread. Something magical happens when the thread and fabric become one and you hold up a finished project.

God sees us all a work in progress but He says that he is faithful to complete the good work that he began in me. I wonder what kind of thread He uses?
